Holy Mackerel Metal Art pieces are NOT flat, machine cut, sheet metal silhouettes!

Holy Mackerel Metal Art is the place to find some of the most unique, one-of-a-kind metal art sculpture anywhere. We strive to produce pieces with depth, heft and three dimensionality. Thus, we use thick carbon steel plate as the backbone of our pieces, a good starting place to create weighty, substantial works of metal art.

The steel plate is cut with a hand held torch to the appropriate size and shape then ground, shaped, polished and hammered to create just the right feel for the style of the particular piece being made.

Each work of metal art sculpture is then festooned with adornments of different themes and styles, ranging from traditional designs like hearts and flowers to some that are more abstract. These adornments are made from heavy gauge sheet metal that is likewise cut with hand held tools, shaped, hammered, polished and textured by hand, using tools both primitive and modern to produce patterns both rugged and delicate.

The hammered metal adornments are attached to the steel plate using a melted bronze joining technique, a process requiring less heat than welding and which leaves a surplus of glorious bronze deposit on the steel, which is also ground, brushed, polished and integrated into the whole design.

This stacking of the hammered metal adornments not only contributes that ever-so-desirable depth and dimensionality, but, just as importantly, adds an element of statement, of purpose, of mystique that hopefully inspires in the viewer his or her own vibration and inspiration.
